Dell Founder Becomes CEO
February 1, 2007
The founder and chairman of Dell, Michael Dell, took back the position of chief executive Wednesday and said that results for the fourth quarter would miss analysts’ estimates. Kevin Rollins resigned as chief executive effective immediately, the company, based in Texas, said.
Dell is resuming control as the company struggles to win back market share lost to Hewlett-Packard and faces an investigation into its accounting. He handed the chief executive title to Rollins in 2004 after building the company into one of the world’s biggest makers of personal computers.
