Freefor Networks Launches 172 Websites Connecting Local People With Local Businesses
Posted on: Friday, 2 February 2007, 09:00 CST
Freefor Networks announced today the official Beta launch of its network of 172 US websites, connecting local people to local businesses for free. The network of websites allows users to promote and advertise for free; buy or sell goods and services; find and submit local businesses, organizations, real estate listings; post free job ads; play online with games, online radio and more.
The architecture allows users to interact and control their online environment. With a unique user interface and design, Freefor Networks developed iControlDeck, an environmental control suite which allows users to create profiles and their own web page with an in-line editor, where you can simply click directly into the web page and watch your web edits in real-time. Other features include the ability to create your own media player, upload music, pictures and files. GoFetch, a powerful utility, imports existing member and business profiles or web pages into your Freefor Networks profile. eBay store owners can import their listings through the website so that members can search local merchants who offer local pickup and promote local business.
Everything is designed to enhance user experience and provide tools for local businesses and provide community members a place to promote, shop and play, all for free. Members can also view results on a local, national or global level. Freefor Networks is scheduled to launch in 40 UK cities in March, and more countries and US domestic sites are scheduled for activation throughout 2007.
Many of the network's features are already under continued development as the network evolves. "This is just the beginning for Project One," states M Snell of Freefor Networks. "We understand the importance of localization; it's about people living life. Our goal is to promote communications and self expression freely on a far greater scale, while always allowing the local community practicalities and belonging to be at the heart of everything we do. We have features within the network and others in production right now that challenge current Internet standards and go beyond what has been seen thus far. We have architected the environment and can't wait to see what you do with it. It's going to be an exciting year on the Internet!"
