Tokyo, Aug. 30 (Jiji Press)–Softbank Corp said Monday it will start a new cut-rate fixed-line phone service on Dec. 1, using a telecommunication network run by its Japan Telecom Co. unit and building related equipment.

Subscription to the new service will be accepted from September, said Softbank, an investor in Internet-related businesses.

The basic monthly charge for the new service will be 200 yen less than that of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. .

Subscribers to the new service will also be spared of an expensive one-time phone line fee, which is charged by NTT to its new subscribers.END
