Bush's State of The Economy speech on January 31st, 2007 in New York City, Hybrid's lithium ion taxi project was mentioned as part of the President's inspired comments on advanced technology corporations.

President Bush said: "Imagine what these technologies will mean for somebody living in New York. The fuel in your car is going to come from a corn field in Iowa or perhaps switchgrass out of Texas. Hybrid electric taxi cabs will be running on new generation lithium ion batteries. The financial pages will be filled with new stock symbols for dynamic American companies in the growing field of alternative fuels."

The Hybrid Technologies lithium ion taxi has been delivered to New York City and will represent the first all lithium taxi in the world. Hybrid Technologies, working under a Space Act Agreement with NASA, developed and tested the advanced lithium ion system. The development of the lithium taxi produced impressive feedback from international media and is expected to encourage the addition of electric vehicles into federal and civil fleets across the United States and around the world.

Hybrid Technologies has scheduled an event to present the NYC taxi to the general public and will address the need for further government support in the area of fleet replacement and sustainable zero emission vehicles.
