ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Feb. 6, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) — QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs), stackable switches and blade server switches today announced that EMC Corporation has qualified QLogic SANbox(r) 9100 and 9200 Fibre Channel core switches as EMC(r) E-Lab(tm) Tested for use with EMC CLARiiON(r) and EMC Symmetrix(r) DMX networked storage systems. With the addition of the SANbox 9000 Series to the EMC Support Matrix, EMC has now tested and qualified the entire suite of QLogic SANbox 4Gb Fibre Channel switches. The highly comprehensive E-Lab qualification process tests configurations that replicate real-world environments to help ensure customer satisfaction.

“EMC continues to lead the way in offering interoperable, best-of-breed storage networking solutions for businesses of all sizes,” said Jesse Parker, vice president and general manager, QLogic Switch Products Group. “EMC is the first storage company to qualify the new SANbox 9000 Series and the entire QLogic SANbox switch product line, which sets an entirely new standard for ease-of-use and price-per-port in the enterprise. The comprehensive EMC E-Lab Tested program continues to be an invaluable tool in providing customers with proven compatibility and a broad range of choices in their storage network implementations.”

SANbox 9000 Series Switches — Designed to the Core(tm) for Open Systems

The SANbox 9000 Series is designed to the core for cost-sensitive, business-critical, open system environments that require ultra high density, blazing performance and intelligent switching for their data center core. The SANbox 9000 Series represents a number of industry firsts: a 4U chassis for a smaller footprint and cost-effective scalability, customer replaceable units (CRUs) to eliminate costly service calls, and a comprehensive set of core switch software management tools are included as standard. With these tools, typical installation, configuration and setup can usually be performed in less than 30 minutes.

For high availability, the SANbox 9000 features redundant, hot-swap I/O, CPU, power supply and fan blades. And for comprehensive fabric management, the SANbox 9000 includes the powerful and easy-to-use Enterprise Fabric Suite 2007 for setting-up, monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting and servicing an unlimited number of large fabrics.

SANbox — The New Look for Powerful, Easy-to-Use Fabrics

As individual components, QLogic SANbox products provide best-in-class advantages. Working together as a system, they not only look better, they make SANs perform better. That’s why the entire QLogic SANbox line won the Windows IT Pro “Readers Choice” Award. For switched fabrics, businesses can count on QLogic for exactly the right switch … from the core to the distribution layer to the edge.

“The EMC E-Lab testing and qualification helps our customers deploy comprehensive solutions comprised of products from multiple vendors,” said Deirdre Wassell, EMC Manager of Storage Network Marketing. “Interoperability between the popular EMC CLARiiON and EMC Symmetrix platforms and the new QLogic SANbox 9000 Series provides more choices for businesses of all sizes that are looking for proven storage systems and high-port-count, 4Gb Fibre Channel switches.”
