LOS GATOS, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Hifn(TM), the power behind network and information security, today announced that Kontron, a leading embedded computer technology company, has chosen the 8155 security processor for their new AM4330 AdvancedMC IPsec Module. Kontron’s AM4330 uses Hifn’s HIPP II 8155 security processor to secure communication traffic across network devices.

Kontron’s AM4330, enabled with Hifn security, is ideally suited to handle the necessary VPN applications within mobile communications systems such as Media Gateways, Radio Network Controllers, and Serving GPRS Support Nodes. Unique to the Hifn 8155 security processor is the ability to dynamically handle both IPsec and SSL processing as well as multi- protocol security processing at full-duplex Gigabit speeds.

“Kontron customers are becoming increasingly concerned about data security,” said Marc Leclaire, ATCA, AMC and MicroTCA, product manager at Kontron. “They are looking for a product that provides high performance, low latency and good small packet throughput for the strongest commercial security transforms. The 8155 offers all of these and more with multi-protocol capabilities to protect both media and signaling data flows.”

“As the leader in security processing, Hifn has refined and optimized our products to provide the highest-level of security to protect information where ever it resides,” said Tom Moore, vice president of marketing at Hifn. “Kontron is leveraging Hifn’s expertise and providing a solution for securing information in transit.”

The Hifn HIPP II 8155 security processor offers dynamic processing of both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic flows. Designed to support single pass header and trailer processing, compression, encryption and authentication, the 8155 security processor requires minimal host CPU interaction resulting in maximum system performance. Hifn’s scalable HIPP processors are true multi-protocol devices that can handle any mix of IPsec ESP, AH, SSL, TLS or DTLS security protocols.
