Leading Analyst Firm Recommends NBA for Both Network and Security Operations

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 February 2007, 09:00 CST

SAN FRANCISCO and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- RSA Conference -- Mazu Networks, the leading(1) provider of Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) systems, today announced that the Yankee Group published a research report recommending that enterprises use NBA systems for both network and security operations. The report titled, "Network Behavioral Analysis Optimizes the Enterprise Network for the Business," details the many ways NBA systems can optimize network operations and names Mazu Networks as the leading provider of these solutions.

According to the research, "enterprise network managers have already discovered the value of behavioral analysis. Without the visibility that NBA tools provide, enterprises are flying blind -- the network is running the business rather than the business running the network." The research continues to state that NBA delivers visibility that enables network and security operations teams to optimize their network for how it is used today and in the future.

"The mission-critical nature of the enterprise network, the rise of service-oriented architectures, the rapid adoption of infrastructure virtualization and the need to deliver applications to a distributed workforce makes understanding network behavior critical," said George Hamilton, director of Yankee Group's Enabling Technologies Enterprise Group and research author. "NBA vendors such as Mazu Networks have extended the context of their solutions beyond network security to deliver visibility into performance and user experience. This behavioral context enables enterprise managers to address network performance issues more quickly and optimize their network."

Mazu Networks provides continuous global visibility into how users, applications, hosts and devices are behaving on a network, and detects if there are meaningful changes from their typical behavior that indicate a network performance issue, a security threat or an application problem. This intelligence enables network teams to optimize infrastructure to support business operations, while also allowing security teams to protect critical services, data and intellectual property.

"The research from Yankee Group validates what we have seen in our customer base during the last year -- growing demand for Mazu from network operations groups. Our customers found that through one product, both the network and security teams could gain a complete understanding of what was happening on their network," said Paul Brady, CEO, Mazu Networks. "Visibility is critical to the success of both network operations and security groups. Mazu provides the intelligence that enables these teams to be more effective, responsive and aware."
