Beijing, 1 July: China Tuesday [1 July] launched an anti-dumping investigation into mostly-used optical fibre imported from the United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), according to a bulletin issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
The target product, the dispersion unshifted single-mode optical fibre, accounted for about 70 per cent of the total used optical fibre in the world, according to the ministry.
The ministry would prove the existence of dumping, the level of dumping scope and the damage caused to the domestic industry, the bulletin said.
The investigation was expected to last for one year and could be extended to 18 months if necessary, it said.
The case was initiated in response to complaints by two Chinese companies and was supported by major Chinese optical fibre producers, the ministry said.
Last year, China imported 110m US dollars worth of optical fibre from the United States, Japan and the ROK, according to the ministry.
