NEW YORK, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national airline of Pakistan, has awarded AT&T a multi-year contract to upgrade its global networking platform.
PIA serves four continents and 39 countries, including the United States, on its international routes, as well as 35 cities inside Pakistan. PIA is the first Asian airline to operate a pure jet aircraft fleet.
AT&T will deploy an integrated networking solution to support PIA's global reservation system calls from around the world to PIA's customer reservations center in Karachi, Pakistan. AT&T will house PIA's PBX in its New York Internet Data Center (IDC); from there customers' calls will be routed to the Karachi center via international private-line service and AT&T's global network. The AT&T solution also includes local, domestic toll-free, domestic and international long-distance, and global inbound services.
The contract includes services previously provided by Verizon.
