New U.S. Real Estate Agent Directory, Agentopolis.Com, Features Client-Rating System; Realtors Can Jockey for Top List Positions By City or State

MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- A new, interactive web directory of more than 1.3 million real estate agents in America, including a client-rating system whereby agents can jockey for top list positions, is being launched today by Agentopolis, Inc., a web-service upstart.
The new user-generated content site -- http://www.agentopolis.com/ -- is unique in offering free agent marketing opportunities to personalize their own listings. Agents are invited to verify their listings and add information including photos, bios, credentials, languages spoken, and areas of specialization such as residential, commercial and new construction.
The client-rating system, which can improve agents' list ranking, is based on number of testimonials.
The company is buying top positions for key real estate agent terms from Google, Yahoo and MSN to ensure high traffic levels, in addition to applying search engine optimization techniques.
"Our strategy gives agents the opportunity to manage their information on the site that will sell themselves to visitors and move up in the rankings," according to Ken Horst, president of Agentopolis.
Horst is a mortgage banker who has been studying real estate web sites for five years to better meet the needs of visitors who are potential homebuyers. He believes most agents will find and update their free listing in early 2007 as Agentopolis continues adding value-added features. Agents can move to the top in up to five cities by buying either a monthly or yearly package, in addition to encouraging their clients to rate them.
"When people type in 'real estate agent' or 'realtor' as search terms, the last thing they want is to give up their email addresses and phone numbers so the site can sell their information to local agents," Horst says. "Typical realtor searches generate hundreds of sites that offer a relatively small subset of agents in any given city. These sites are hard to use, full of banner ads, and require invasive information from consumers who are merely looking for initial information. Our site offers a simple layout that allows users to find, compare and contact agents in any U.S. city in two clicks, with no strings attached."
Agentopolis, Inc. is a web-service firm based in the Minneapolis suburb of Wayzata. For more information, visit http://www.agentopolis.com/ or call 1-800-219-9943.
