NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. (CP) – Police searching Robert Pickton’s trailer for guns also found handcuffs and sex toys, a police officer testified Thursday.

RCMP Cpl. James Petrovich was one of four police officers who stormed the trailer in February 2002 to search for firearms.

Petrovich said as he searched a bedroom in the trailer, he spotted jewelry and a set of handcuffs with fake gold fur in the headboard.

Next to the bed was a nightstand.

Petrovich testified that in the bottom drawer of the nightstand was a set of handcuffs with red fake fur and a number of sex toys.

But Petrovich said because they were there to search for guns, they couldn’t seize any of the items.

He did find a .22-calibre revolver on top of a furnace in a laundry room and an assorted collection of ammunition.

Petrovich told the jury that he’d been told if he came across any female names during his search, he had to relay them to his supervisor.

The jurors heard how that late Feb. 5 Petrovich found some papers with a woman’s name on them.

Five minutes later the gun search was suspended.
