National Technical Systems, Inc. Joins in Compliance Testing of VESA's (Video Electronics Standards Association) New DisplayPort(TM) Interface
Posted on: Thursday, 15 February 2007, 12:00 CST
National Technical Systems, Inc. (NTS) (Nasdaq:NTSC), a leading provider of quality and conformance testing and managed services, announced today that NTS and three other organizations have been selected to manage the testing for Video Electronics Standards Association's (VESA) new DisplayPort™ interface standard, with the compliance specification set for completion by late October.
Bill Lempesis, Executive Director of VESA said, "Selection of the test organizations and completion of the compliance testing procedures marks a milestone for the DisplayPort™ standardization process. With the help of many of our member companies, we have moved forward with this important program."
Many VESA member companies have played important roles in establishing the DisplayPort™ specification and compliance testing process, including Agilent, ATI, Analogix Semiconductor, Apple, Dell, Genesis Microchip, JAE Electronics, Molex, NVIDIA, Parade Technologies, Tektronix and Tyco.
DisplayPort™ is designed to simplify display interfaces in computer and consumer electronics systems by creating a new digital display interface specification for broad application within computer monitors, TV displays, projectors, PC's and other content sources. DisplayPort™ enables a common interface approach across both internal and external display connections, and allows high quality audio to be available to the display device over the same cable and the video signal. It delivers true plug-and-play with robust interoperability, and is cost-competitive with existing digital display and interconnect. Designed to be available throughout the industry as an open, extensible standard, DisplayPort™ is expected to accelerate adoption of protected digital outputs on PC's to support viewing high definition and other types of protected content through an optional content protection capability, while enabling higher levels of display performance.
