Posted on: Tuesday, 7 September 2004, 06:00 CDT

"Pronghorn" targets OEMs who embrace an Intel(R) IXP425-based platform for feature-rich 802.11 wireless applications

ADI Engineering, Inc., a leading provider of reference platforms, platform derivatives, and complete custom product solutions for OEM's based on Intel(R) network processors announced their new "Pronghorn" Wi-Fi application platform today at the Intel(R) Communications Alliance Summit in San Francisco. ADI teamed with Instant802, a leading provider of 802.11 embedded software solutions to produce a truly production ready Wi-Fi OEM application platform.

"OEMs who need to bring 802.11 solutions to market quickly are embracing Pronghorn," reports Steve Yates, President and CTO of ADI Engineering. "By optimizing the Pronghorn product design around Wi-Fi applications for the Intel(R) IXP425 network processor, ADI makes it a low-risk exercise for OEMs to take custom 802.11 solutions into production."

"The Pronghorn platform allows OEMs to quickly bring to market powerfully differentiated Wi-Fi products leveraging the advanced software features of the Instant802 Wireless Solutions Platform, such as Orchestrator(TM) automatic clustering," said Greg Nuyens, SVP of Sales and Marketing at Instant802.

The Pronghorn platform includes an Intel(R) IXP425 network processor, 802.11a/b/g capability via Mini PCI card, configurable flash and SDRAM, chassis, power supply, and certifications. The Self-Managed Access Point solution from Instant802 is the engine that drives the development platform, and is available as a configurable, flexible product in production for this platform.

List price for development platform in single piece quantities is $999. In annual volumes of 2,000 per annum, the baseline Pronghorn sells for $219. Custom variants are supported as required by customers. Development kits are immediately available for purchase and delivery.
