CUPERTINO, Calif., Feb. 20 /PRNewswire/ — ABREVITY announced today the signing of a distribution agreement with leading technology distributor Tech Data Corporation . Ranked 107th on the FORTUNE 500(R), Tech Data has over 90,000 customers in more than 100 countries. ABREVITY’s Information Classification and Management (ICM) software will now be available to resellers nationwide that purchase their storage products from Tech Data.

“Thousands of resellers look to Tech Data to find the best-in-class solutions for their customers,” says Bill Reed, ABREVITY’s vice president of sales. “Those resellers will now be able to specify and buy ABREVITY’s software for their customers in concert with their other storage product purchases. ABREVITY offers the only ICM solution directly available from Tech Data for the full range of enterprises from small-to-medium businesses through large Fortune 100 firms.”

Industry experts agree that the space for ICM is one of the top storage segments, propelled by requirements for information lifecycle management (ILM), information lifecycle security (ILS), compliance archiving, legal discovery, data protection and data mining. According to ABREVITY, all other ICM solutions are built upon relational database and/or enterprise search technologies which are not suited for unstructured data management. Leveraging a new metadata database and data model, ABREVITY’s SLICEbase technology allows for orders of magnitude better scalability to billions of records, flexibility for on-the-fly schema changes, file versioning and genealogy tracking with stubbing, distributed “parallel” deployment including multi-threaded scanning and indexing and a much lower cost than other solutions.

ABREVITY’s FileData Classifier(TM) software application rides on top of its SLICEbase engine and now includes advanced modules for Legal Discovery, Information Security, Compliance Archiving and Tiered Storage Data Grooming.

“Business continuity practices, government regulations and other data-backup requirements present challenges to businesses of all sizes looking for effective solutions for storing, managing and securing their critical information assets,” said Tech Data’s vice president, software product marketing Stacy Nethercoat. “ABREVITY’s ICM software enables resellers to deliver solutions that provide end users with efficient access to stored information, ensuring quick and ready access to their data at all times.”

“Our FileData Classifier software has become the market leader in the small-to-medium businesses (SMB) segment,” says Eric D. Madison, ABREVITY’s vice president of product strategy. “It’s also perfect for enterprise divisions, departments, remote locations or smaller initial deployments. Version 3.0 of ABREVITY’s FileData Manager software will ship in early 2007 and is designed for larger enterprise deployments, which is a key focus for many Tech Data resellers. Our next version will feature a parallel architecture that manages one terabyte to multiple petabytes of data in a single, federated view. This architecture lets us run circles around competitors for performance, scalability and adaptability at less than one- third the cost of any solution on the market.”
