Frank N. Magid Associates, a world leader in research-based media consultation, announced today the launch of Magid Media Labs (MML), a division dedicated to assisting clients to successfully leverage the company’s extensive experience both in local broadcasting and new media and to successfully promote and extend their brands and content on emerging platforms.

Through research, education, training, and consultation, MML experts will help broadcasters remain relevant to gain continued interest from today’s multimedia consumer. On a tactical level, a team of Magid specialists will help broadcasters re-engineer their newsrooms, to more seamlessly deliver content for the web and other platforms, as well as provide technological advice for marketing and promotion to new media consumers. Among other efforts, MML will also help broadcasters optimize their online presence for more positive organic search results on major search engines, while giving ample attention to critical wireless devices such as the cell phone.

“For years we have quietly undertaken an astounding amount of highly targeted work on behalf of savvy broadcasters determined to stay ahead of the rapidly-changing, highly competitive media environment,” says Steve Ridge, Corporate Executive Vice President. “The formal build-out of Magid Media Labs is a way to bring the full resources of our firm to bear in helping clients achieve the highest level of sophistication and effectiveness in meeting the needs of today’s multimedia consumers.”

MML will incorporate expertise derived from the company’s nearly fifty-year history of consulting with local broadcasters on how to retain and grow their audiences. MML consultants will work with established Magid news and marketing consultants to develop and execute new strategies that build off the strong base each client has built as a broadcaster.

“Our clients understand they need to deliver compelling content online, via wireless devices, as well as on air, but often struggle with how to successfully make this happen,” says Jaime Spencer, newly named director of Magid Media Labs. “Simply layering on costs to their newsroom budgets will not create the results broadcasters seek. From our experience, a sophisticated zero-based approach is required.”

“The Internet can hardly be considered an emerging platform, but the way in which traditional media can leverage the Web is still an unanswered question,” says Dick Haynes, Senior Vice President. “Magid Media Labs is dedicated to providing those answers so broadcasters can deliver compelling content on multiple platforms in a way that resonates with today’s news consumer.”

Magid Media Labs will be operating out of Magid headquarters in Iowa as well as their offices in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. For further information, contact Bill Hague at 847-999-4422.
