FarStone Launches New Disc-Imaging Recovery Solution for System Builders and Integrators
Posted on: Tuesday, 27 February 2007, 12:01 CST
FarStone Technology, Inc. today announced a new solution for system builders and integrators that enables them to build disaster recovery into their custom systems. Available immediately, the new DriveClone™ System Recovery (SR) Edition is a disc-Imaging recovery solution, based upon the company's patented technology.
Concurrent with the release of DriveClone SR, FarStone announced that Coalescent Technologies is the first customer to take delivery of the new software. Coalescent Technologies has licensed FarStone's DriveClone SR to integrate into their Mobile Virtual Training Capability (MVTC) training solution. The MVTC™ is a turnkey training solution designed to meet the urgent need for an affordable and mobile training solution, and is provided to the National Guard Bureau to support critical training missions for the Army National Guard.
Fred Bonilla, MVTC Project Manager for Coalescent Technologies, explained that the use of the MVTC in various harsh training environments can sometimes lead to software corruption or file deletion. In the past, units were shipped back to Coalescent's office in Orlando, which increased the cost of the program and decreased the amount working units in the field. Bonilla continued, "In order to help reduce cost and increase our response time for repairs, we found a solution with FarStone. FarStone's DriveClone gives us the capability to respond and reconfigure machines over the phone in minutes, compared to days of down time due to shipping. The use of DriveClone will give us the responsiveness needed to help support our servicemen and women in the field, training with our system."
"We are all very proud to work with Coalescent Technologies and to be a part of their MVTC offerings. It gives us great satisfaction to know that our technologies are assisting our armed forces to reach optimum preparedness," says Tom Fedro, executive vice president for FarStone Technology.
With DriveClone SR, the system builder or system integrator can multicast system "factory" backup images in a hidden and protected partition, across multiple systems in a manufacturing environment before the system is completed and sealed. When the system ships out to an end user, their image is available through an intuitive user interface to recover data from most digital disasters. Additionally, end users can take their system image and burn it to CDs/DVDs to store the image in a secure location and use it for recovery in the event of hard drive failure.
FarStone's DriveClone disc-imaging recovery technology easily resolves most customer support issues by empowering end users with disaster recovery functionality. DriveClone enables users with a simple and easy means to back up their entire system by creating a compressed and encrypted archive of their files, programs and operating system to a hidden protected partition on the hard drive. DriveClone restores the user's entire system, settings and files in the event of a digital disaster such as accidental deletions, overwrites, virus attacks, operating system crashes and hard drive failures.
About Mobile Virtual Training Capability (MVTC)
The MVTC is a turnkey training solution that was designed to meet the urgent need for an affordable and mobile training solution that focuses on force protection and enhancing combat decision making skills at the small unit level. The MVTC™ consists of reconfigurable and deployable hardware and a suite of virtual training tools specifically designed to meet the training requirements of today's deployed and deploying forces as well as the need for high quality, highly effective training tools that are lost-cost and can be quickly modified to train against emerging threats or new training requirements. MVTC has already proven its value as a training and mission rehearsal tool for Army National Guardsmen preparing to deploy in harm's way, those currently participating in the Global War on Terrorism and those called to provide disaster relief. Based on its training value and the overwhelming acceptance by soldiers, the MVTC and its core training software has become a favored training tool for small unit operations, communications and decision-making.
