Posted on: Wednesday, 28 February 2007, 12:01 CST

Ontela, an innovator in mobile imaging technologies, today announces three key management team appointments. Following the close of its round A funding late last year, Ontela is accelerating its recruitment of mobile technology and software experts, drawing seasoned veterans from renowned organizations such as Microsoft, InfoSpace Mobile and Good Technology. The company also announces the opening of its new 5,000 square foot headquarters in the historic Smith Tower in downtown Seattle, and the immediate opening of eight new positions.

"These announcements from Ontela are further evidence that Washington is a global leader for technology and innovation. Companies can flourish and offer opportunities to work on cutting-edge research and development projects," said Washington Governor Christine Gregoire.

"Ontela is a perfect example of why Seattle is a great place to innovate and grow a business," said Dan Rosen, chairman of the Seattle-based investor group Alliance of Angels. "When the company came to AoA in 2005, it was apparent that their leading-edge technology and talented leadership team would be a winning combination. They won the support of the AoA, and now they are embarking on an exciting new stage of growth and showing how Seattle is firmly on the map when it comes to innovative, wireless technology development."

"We've assembled some of the brightest minds in the industry, drawing from multiple disciplines in the mobile universe," said Dan Shapiro, CEO and founder of Ontela. "We are continuing to expand our team and look forward to bringing more high-octane experts into the company to further establish ourselves and Seattle as the premiere home for mobile technology innovators."

Mike Arcuri joins Ontela as director of product management. He brings a wealth of product management experience in designing useful and usable software that needs to "just work" for millions of end users. Before joining Ontela, Arcuri held several positions at Microsoft over a ten-year period and helped grow the Office product line into the full system of productivity applications and business servers it is today.

Charlie Butt, a specialist in developing hosted wireless solutions and guiding carriers through the sales, implementation and management process, joins Ontela as vice president of North American carrier sales. Butt previously held several positions at InfoSpace, Inc. As one of the founding team members of Infospace Mobile, he was responsible for developing tier 1 and tier 2 carrier relationships while selling, implementing and managing commercial-grade, white-labeled portal solutions.

Leading Ontela's engineering team, Barry Roitblat joins as the company as vice president of engineering. Roitblat is a leading authority in mobile engineering and application development. Prior to working for Ontela, Roitblat was the engineering director for mobile messaging company Good Technology. He has also served as CTO of Sproqit Technologies and vice president of engineering for AudioTrack, an Internet startup offering audio watermarking technologies for monitoring usage of audio content.
