The corrected release reads:
SANYO ELECTRIC ANNOUNCES STATEMENT REGARDING BATTERY PACK RECALL BY LENOVO
SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO)(TOKYO:6764) is the world's largest producer of rechargeable batteries, and is a battery pack supplier to Lenovo for its notebook PCs. Lenovo, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, today announced the voluntary recall of approximately 205,000 battery packs, specifically a 9-cell Lithium-ion extended-life battery pack, as five incidents have been reported to-date. The incidents were not triggered by the battery cells themselves. While the pack fully satisfied specifications and internal testing standards, these incidents occurred due to a strong external impact to the battery pack of a specific notebook PC model from a certain angle.
SANYO has been fully committed to providing support to Lenovo's recall initiative, working together with Lenovo, and putting the first priority on consumer safety. SANYO already has measures in place to support this initiative. SANYO has been enjoying a fruitful partnership with Lenovo and has an excellent track record of supplying quality products. SANYO and Lenovo will continue to work closely to maintain the highest product quality.
