Posted on: Monday, 13 September 2004, 06:00 CDT
AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- VCON (Euronext- Nouveau Marche -ISIN CODE: IL 00 108 30540), a worldwide leader in audio and videoconferencing solutions, today announced the HD4000, the first software-only group videoconferencing application in the market. With the HD4000, VCON authorized partners and end user customers have flexibility in configuring a video-enabled solution using their own system platform and peripherals.
The HD4000 includes H.264 video for advanced video processing, as well as HD DualStream(TM) for sending video+data simultaneously to all other participants during a videoconference. The HD4000 has native 16:9 wide screen display support for use with the latest digital wide-screen displays. Additionally, the HD4000 includes HD Simulcast(TM) with VCON's exclusive Interactive Multicast technology and an embedded broadcast viewer. Common to all VCON products is VCON's PacketAssist(TM) technology, giving the HD4000 advanced QoS features that allow for optimal transmission of video, audio and data across an IP network.
"The HD4000 is the only software solution of its kind on the market today," said Gordon Daugherty, chief marketing officer, VCON. "We sensed a real need to provide a flexible solution for customers who want to use their own hardware, but are also looking for a complete videoconferencing application."
VCON's HD4000 gives customers the best of both worlds, allowing them to customize a solution for their boardroom, classroom or meeting room, without having to start from scratch. Additionally, once integrated into a high- performance, multimedia PC, customers can use their HD4000 system in numerous ways: access the Internet, display presentations and documents during meetings, play movies and videos clips, and participate in Web data conferences. Customers can also combine the HD4000 with their own PC, speakers, displays, podiums, carts and cameras.
The VCON HD4000 is now available, with a list price of $5,000.
