itaas Inc., the only provider of end-to-end iTV solutions in the digital video industry, and the provider of an innovative and compelling suite of VOD (video on demand) products, today announced the deployment of the ECS — VOD monitoring and Reporting Platform, at Videotron in Montreal.

ECS, now deployed for over 6 months, is helping Videotron increase the VOD operational efficiencies and is providing a focal point to monitor activity across its entire VOD infrastructure. It is an excellent tool to gauge the VOD system health at a glance and pinpoint the problem components enabling operators to provide a better viewing experience for their subscribers.

ECS is the only product of its kind in the market that gives near real-time information helping stabilize VOD systems. ECS is VOD platform agnostic and presents usage metrics for operational, marketing, and management analysis.

“We are extremely pleased with the results of itaas’ ECS product. ECS not only helps us optimize VOD Capacity Planning, but also provides significant data to diagnose iTV application problems,” said Daniel Proulx, Sr. VP of Engineering, Videotron. “Immediate resolution of these problems certainly translates into a great subscriber experience.”

With deployment in over 50 cable systems, ECS continues to be a leader in the VOD measurement space.

“ECS’ near-real time reporting and analysis has proven to be critical in increasing operational stability and reliability of a multitude of VOD systems across major MSOs like Time Warner, Cox and Bright house Networks,” said itaas’ COO Jaspal Bhasin. “After deploying ECS in many of the leading cable systems in the US, we are pleased to enter the Canadian market. We are excited to work with Videotron to help address their challenges by customizing the ECS solution to suit their business needs.”

ECS is integrated with video servers and software from Arroyo Video Solutions, Broadbus, Concurrent, C-COR, SeaChange and TANDBERG Television.
