Hurricane VFW Launches Web Site

VFW Post #9097, Hurricane, now has an Internet Web site, which is still under construction and can be found at www.VFW9097.com

Post Commander Glenn Webb suggested that “considerable discussion locally, on the state level and nationally, has focused on attracting more of the young men and women who are serving, or have recently served, in the armed forces in places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and other parts of the world to help keep America safe. We want to attract these potential members because this organization has so much to offer them.”

One common denominator has been that most people today are “connected” to the world via the Internet.

Many of those serving overseas today comment that they are often able to keep in touch with family and friends online.

As a result, the VFW post members felt is important to allow military service members the ability to connect with organizations like the VFW that serve them while on active duty and offer a place where other former military members with similar experiences can offer an understanding not found in people who have not served.

While the new Web site is under daily construction, everyone is encouraged to visit it.

While viewing the Web site, visitors should feel free to click on the “Contact” link to e-mail the post with any comments or suggestions for improvement.

For further information, contact Gary Walton (Webmaster), Jr. Vice Commander, VFW Mountaineer Post #9097, at gw1000us@yahoo.com or via telephone at 304-552-5423.
