CHARLOTTE, N.C., March 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AT&T Inc. announced today that Cingular, now AT&T and the nation’s largest wireless carrier, upgraded and expanded its service by launching 10 new cell sites in Duplin, Onslow, Craven and Carteret Counties last year, enhancing wireless service for those who live, work and play in eastern North Carolina. The local investment was part of the wireless division’s estimated $6 billion national network capital expenditure program during 2006.

Last year, AT&T’s wireless unit built more than 200 new cell sites across the Carolinas, expanding coverage and enhancing network capacity for residents and visitors to the area. As a result, AT&T’s ALLOVER(TM) Network* — the nation’s largest digital voice and data network — has grown bigger and better in western South Carolina.

“We want to provide the best service possible for not only the year-round residents of our coastal area but also for the many wireless customers from across the country who come to vacation in eastern North Carolina,” said Alison Hall, vice president and general manager for the company’s North and South Carolina market. “These new cell sites are helping us to provide that coverage to those living, working, and vacationing in the Carolinas.”

The new sites bring new or enhanced coverage to the company’s wireless customers in the following areas:

   — Duplin County, along Hwy. 117, connecting Magnolia and Wallace; enhanced coverage for the town of Beulaville; and coverage enhancements along Hwys. 41 and 111 between Greeneyers and Fountain. — Onslow County, west of Jacksonville between Hwys. 50 and 53, and enhancements northwest of Swansboro near the White Oak River — Craven County, east of Havelock and just south of the Marine Corps Naval Air Station — Carteret County, north of Harker’s Island, along Hwy. 70 between Otway and Smyrna

Hall added, “AT&T will continue its momentum and focus on delivering a strong network, innovative wireless products and services and a quality customer service experience in 2007.”

Over the last two years, AT&T has invested more than $13.5 billion nationally in an aggressive program to upgrade and expand wireless service and now gives customers access to some 45,000 cell sites — more than any other wireless carrier in the country.

*The ALLOVER(TM) Network covers more than 273 million people. Coverage is not available in all areas.
