A new Web site, Healthydiningfinder.com, allows consumers to locate restaurants and find meals with nutrition facts tailored to their dietary needs.

The site, a collaboration of restaurants across the United States, gives consumers the decision to choose what they eat beyond the grocery store.

The Web site features a search engine where consumers can enter an address, cuisine type and maximum distance. Each restaurant also offers nutrition facts of their healthy entrees listed on the site.

The Web site offers another way for consumers to monitor their food intake when eating out, said LuAnn Heinen, director of the Institute on the Costs and Health Effects of Obesity. The Web site will also provide a search option of delivery restaurants, so people can make healthy choices ahead of time.

We are looking for specific menu items that meet healthy dining criteria, said David Katz, director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center. It simply stands to reason that if you want a high-performance body, you have to put in high-performance fuel.
