AT&T Donates $25,000 to Fiesta Commission Charitable Corporation
SAN ANTONIO, March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AT&T Inc. announced today that Cingular, now AT&T and the nation’s largest wireless carrier, will donate $25,000 to the Fiesta Commission Charitable Corporation during Fiesta Opening Ceremonies in front of the Alamo.
Since the foundation was established in 2004, the company has contributed $40,000 in support of the organization’s community efforts.
Chris Penrose, vice president and general manager for the wireless unit of AT&T in South Texas, will make the presentation to San Antonio District Attorney Susan Reed, who chairs the Foundation.
AT&T is underwriting the Opening Ceremonies. As part of that sponsorship, Roberto Garcia, executive director of Hispanic Marketing, will represent AT&T and speak at the opening ceremonies.
“We are excited about the opportunity to participate in this worthwhile endeavor,” Penrose said. “The Fiesta Commission Charitable Corporation is a wonderful philanthropic organization that helps improve San Antonio. We are honored to be a part of that initiative, because we are committed to the communities we serve and want to be part of their progress.”
The company also will have a special offer for customers during Fiesta.
AT&T’s wireless arm has its South Texas market headquarters in San Antonio and employs more than 250 in the city. It has 1,300 additional employees throughout Austin, Houston, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley. AT&T spent more than $68 million in the Greater San Antonio area during 2006, improving and expanding service. That investment was part of the company’s $370 million investment in Texas.
