N.Y. Man Facing Child Pornography Charges
Police in New York have arrested a real estate broker from the town of Southampton on state and federal charges of possession of child pornography.
The New York Times reported local authorities Friday arrested Matthias von Wrede for the second time after finding hundreds of images of alleged child pornography at his Southampton home.
The 34-year-old, who was first arrested on March 5, had been free on a $250,000 bail prior to his second arrest.
Suffolk County police said that during a search of Wrede’s home, officers located child pornographic materials, including images of sexual abuse being conducted.
Investigators said in a prior statement given by the German citizen, he confessed to having gathered much of the images online.
Last summer, I was getting drunk a lot and used to be home alone a lot and got kind of addicted to the Internet, Wrede allegedly said. That is when I started downloading and sharing child pornography.
The Times said federal officials would oppose any suggestions of bail for Wrede this time due to a potential flight risk.
