Avago Technologies Shatters Data Throughput Barriers With 100 Gigabit Ethernet Parallel Optics Technology Demonstration
Posted on: Monday, 19 March 2007, 09:00 CDT
Avago Technologies today announced it will show a breakthrough demonstration of how parallel optics technology can address 100 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) interconnections. The company is a leading supplier of innovative semiconductor solutions for advanced communications, industrial and commercial applications.
"Parallel optics provides an ideal platform for making 100 Gigabit Ethernet commercially viable," commented David Dolfi, an Avago research fellow and pioneer in parallel optics technology. "It is a very scalable technology, and the best currently available in terms of cost and for reliably handling extremely high data rates."
In addition to its 100 Gb/s technology demonstration, Avago will showcase 8 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s samples for the emerging SFP+ form factor. At the heart of Avago's 10 Gigabit Ethernet demonstrations is the company's VCSEL technology.
Avago's demonstrations will take place at the OFC/NFOEC conference held at the Anaheim Convention Center from March 27-29, Hall B, booth # 2741.
