Craven Appointed Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing Group; Johnson Named President and General Manager, Network Signaling Division

CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 11, 2003--Tekelec (Nasdaq:TKLC) announced today that Lori Craven has been appointed Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Marketing Group. Craven has been leading Tekelec's Network Signaling Division since January 2002 and has been leading the Global Sales and Marketing Group in an acting role since December 2002. Monty Johnson, Tekelec's current Vice President of Product Management and Strategy for NSD, has been named President and General Manager, Network Signaling Division, assuming Craven's responsibilities.

Lori Craven joined Tekelec in January 2002 and has significant experience in product management, software development, global marketing, and strategic planning. She joined Tekelec from Lucent Technologies, where she last served as Vice President, Mobility Solutions Development. In this capacity, Craven headed Lucent's organization responsible for developing and integrating network infrastructure and applications for third generation (3G) wireless networks, primarily based on Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS).

Craven earned a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Northwestern University, a Master of Science in Computer Engineering from Stanford University, and a Bachelor in Computer Science from Oregon State University.

Monty Johnson joined Tekelec in January 2003 and has extensive experience in delivering enhanced-services networks to many of the world's largest wireless and wireline carriers. His background includes the launch of advanced intelligent network (AIN) solutions in the U.S., Europe and Asia, the launch of wireless and voicemail solutions in the U.S. and Japan and deliveries of leading-edge wireless and wireline access solutions.

Johnson joined Tekelec from dynamicsoft, a telecom software company, where he directed global sales and customer service. Prior to joining dynamicsoft, Johnson served as vice president, global account director, responsible for leading Motorola's global sales and operations to BellSouth, SBC Communications and Cingular Wireless.

Johnson earned a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from The Citadel. He received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
