MBO Video Selects Movaz to Offer `Triple-Play'; Movaz Networks' RAY Product Suite to Offer Customers Voice, Data and Video Services

Posted on: Monday, 20 September 2004, 06:00 CDT

Movaz Networks recently announced the purchase and installation of their RAY(TM) Product Suite of optical networking equipment by MBO Video, a wholesale bandwidth service provider with a DWDM network encompassing Oklahoma and Arkansas. The service provider is using Movaz Networks' RAY(TM) Product Suite to help provide customers' voice, data, video and wave services.

"As a wholesale network provider, not only is reliability paramount for voice, but also for video," says Milton Alford, director of network operations, MBO Video. "Customer demand fuels the need for service providers to create new ways to connect. We provide our customers with a cost efficient and reliable service, thus increasing the value of business. MBO's business case shows that the 20-wavelength, 10G-ready system provided in the Movaz deployment eliminates the need to purchase Long Haul SONET systems. In addition, the network has the ability to grow to 40 wavelengths which meets our foreseeable customer demand."

According to Zouheir Mansourati, Movaz Networks' SVP of Marketing & Technology Solutions, "The MBO network is unique in that it encompasses some unique features of our RAYexpress product. MBO is deploying RAYexpress in multiple metro rings, multiple regional rings and, then, interconnecting these regional rings. It is a good illustration of our product's all-optical networking capabilities."

Over the last year, Movaz has won five major optical networking deals in the Independent Operating Companies (IOC) market segment. Movaz is a strong player in this arena because of its flexible product platforms and GMPLS control plane, and they continue to realize continued growth in this segment.
