Digital Fountain to Preview TV-Quality Content Delivery Network for Streaming Video at NAB Show

Posted on: Wednesday, 21 March 2007, 09:01 CDT

Digital Fountain, Inc., a leading provider of advanced standardized software solutions for optimizing digital media delivery, today announced the development of a new content delivery network (CDN) for streaming video, which significantly improves the way people watch video over the Internet. This new CDN provides an immediate full-screen, TV-quality experience, eliminating many of the common problems associated with today's CDNs, such as poor video quality, small picture size, slow loading, and frequent buffering. The company will demonstrate this new solution to select content providers, ISPs and members of the press at NAB in Las Vegas, April 16-19, Booth #1054.

"There has always been a compromise when watching video over the internet; Do I want to immediately watch a poorer-quality video, or do I want to wait and watch it with better quality?" said Charlie Oppenheimer, CEO of Digital Fountain. "With Digital Fountain's streaming CDN, viewers will no longer have to make a choice. They get instant access to full screen streaming video with TV quality."

Digital Fountain is currently partnering with content providers and ISPs to engage them as active, vested participants in the new CDN. The new solution, which will enter trials this fall, leverages numerous Digital Fountain technologies including DF RaptorTM technology, which has been deployed and standardized for IPTV and mobile multimedia services, as well as DF ToughStreamTM, which makes IP streaming highly resilient to common network impairments. Digital Fountain's optimized media delivery solutions improve quality of service, provide more content to more customers, and use bandwidth more efficiently. DF Raptor is a universal technology that has been adopted by many leading standards bodies for IPTV and mobile broadcast, including DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) and 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project).

The company is scheduling a limited number of demonstrations of this new solution at NAB to select content providers, ISPs, and members of the press. If you would like to request a demonstration, please contact: Jim Campbell at Digital Fountain (jcampbell@digitalfountain.com).
