AT&T Announces New Contract With Owens Valley Career Development Center

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., March 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. today announced a new contract with Owens Valley Career Development Center (OVCDC), a job-training and vocational rehabilitation services provider located in Bakersfield, Calif., with 11 locations throughout Southern California. Under the terms of the three-year contract, AT&T will serve as the primary networking services provider, delivering AT&T MPLS Virtual Private Network (VPN) to all of OVCDC's Calif. locations.

AT&T VPN service, a fully managed network-based solution provisioned on the AT&T IP Network, will provide a flexible, secure architecture for OVCDC to transfer data from its outlying remote locations back to the host site. Additionally, the solution will support deployment of training applications from the host site back out to its remote locations. The solution will also provide the necessary bandwidth to deploy advanced applications, such as client training services by way of videoconferencing and NetMeeting, a complete Internet conferencing solution with multipoint data conferencing, text chat and file transfer.

The converged network will provide increased flexibility and efficiency by connecting the company headquarters with each of its remote facilities. With the increased bandwidth, OVCDC will have the long-term scalability to incorporate future changes, such as integrating voice traffic onto the network for administrative, maintenance and cost benefits.

"In order to better serve our clients, we needed a networking solution that could support applications such as training via videoconferencing and NetMeeting," said Sylvester Sahme, chief executive officer of Owens Valley Career Development Center. "With AT&T's comprehensive solution, we will be able to deploy advanced training applications, as well as transfer company data with increased security and flexibility from outlying remote locations to our host site."
