Nuance Delivers Speech-Based Search for Mobile Phone Music

Nuance Communications, a supplier of speech and imaging systems, has launched a speech-based search platform for mobile phone music content.
The mobile music search platform offers instant access to music content using the power of voice. This eliminates the need for mobile consumers to key in text or navigate menu hierarchies when searching for music or ringtones to download from the mobile web.
The platform allows mobile search providers to add voice search functionality - including song and artist names - to their music search and download applications. With a custom set of grammars specifically built to optimize a catalog of more than 1.2 million song and artist titles, Nuance claims its Music Service Package offers comprehensive coverage and easy access that will drive more consumer spending on mobile music content.
"A more efficient means to find music tracks, such as speech recognition, opens new opportunities for wireless carriers and application developers to increase revenue through additional purchases," says Michael Thompson, vice president and general manager, telco, search and communications, Nuance.
