SEVEN Expands Advisory Board With Mobile Industry Veterans
SEVEN, the global market leader in push email software, today announced it has augmented its advisory board team with the addition of Mike van der Wallen and Peter Hogewoning.
Prior to founding an executive coaching service company Inspiring Management, Van der Wallen was corporate VP of Sony Ericsson and Head of its EMEA Region from 2001 to 2005. He was one of the key forces in establishing the joint venture between Sony and Ericsson in terms of strategy, organizational architecture and branding. Under his leadership, Sony Ericsson established its activities in more than 60 countries across EMEA and reached a solid double digit market share in the region. Van der Wallen originally joined Sony in 1988 and was made director and head of its European Personal Video Business Unit in 1995. In 1998, Mike entered the telecom industry as VP of Sony’s Global CDMA Business in San Diego, California. In 2000, van der Wallen relocated to Munich to assume the leadership of the Global GSM business, which was later merged into Sony Ericsson.
Hogewoning was regional vice president Asia for Openwave Systems prior to founding GTM Partners, a professional sales and field operations organization headquartered in Hong Kong. He joined Openwave as European sales director and under his leadership Openwave captured a leading position in WAP and Mobile Internet applications in Europe. Earlier in his career, Hogewoning held various leading sales positions for AT&T and Lucent Technologies in both Asia and Europe. He holds an MS degree from the Technical University in Eindhoven.
“We are excited to have two industry veterans join our prestigious advisory board team,” said Ross Bott, CEO, SEVEN. “With so much growth potential in the mobile email space, we are happy to have augmented our board with Mike and Peter helping to drive our mission: to bring mobile email to the masses and increase the growth of mobile enterprise accounts; their advice and input will be priceless.”
