Posted on: Monday, 2 April 2007, 12:00 CDT

Fibertech Networks, LLC, a leader in providing metropolitan bandwidth services in mid-size U.S. cities, today announced it has signed its first international carrier. Fibertech will provide metro connections in Connecticut to Hibernia Atlantic, the only diverse trans-Atlantic transport provider. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Under the five-year contract, Fibertech will connect Hibernia Atlantic to the Fibertech metro network in Stamford, CT. This will allow Hibernia Atlantic to provide its New York City customers the network diversity and back-up connections needed to inbound and outbound trans-Atlantic traffic. The company has built over a dozen other Points of Presence within this northeast corridor, to further service its latest customer acquisitions, including household names in the communications and financial sectors, who demand quality network security.

"Today's enterprise clients and global carriers must have diverse and redundant network paths for their business-critical communications traffic," said Bjarni Thorvardarson, the CEO of Hibernia Atlantic. "By utilizing network connections from Fibertech, we increase the speed to market of our dedicated Ethernet and optical services in the Northeast corridor of the U.S."

"We're delighted that Hibernia has chosen Fibertech for their metro network needs in Connecticut," said Fibertech President and CEO John K. Purcell. "As the only diverse trans-Atlantic network provider, Hibernia is well positioned to serve multi-national carriers and global enterprise customers' growing need for reliable broadband connectivity."

The deployment of these circuits in Stamford is part of Hibernia Atlantic's international initiative to increase its critical network connections between large carrier hotels and their respective metro markets.
