APPLE’S online music store iTunes have launched a premium download service allowing users to play tracks on any MP3 player.

Until now, the downloads only played on Apple’s own iPod.

EMI – label of Kylie, Robbie Williams, above, and Lily Allen, left – are the industry’s first to make their catalogue available free of anti-piracy technology Digital Rights Management.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs said it was “the next big step forward in the digital music revolution”.
