Verimatrix Sets the Standard for Content Security at NAB 2007

Posted on: Tuesday, 3 April 2007, 12:00 CDT

Verimatrix Media Alert:

WHO:

Verimatrix enhances the value and security of pay-TV networks with advanced technologies designed to address the content security challenges of today, and those of tomorrow. The Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) offers a suite of patent-pending technologies that enable a robust security foundation, with a range of options to extend and reinforce the security perimeter and enhance the revenue of digital video systems.

WHAT:

Technology Demonstrations:

VCAS™ for IPTV -- Verimatrix will be demonstrating its new version of IPTV content security that supports the full spectrum of the wholesale/retail business over satellite, fiber and other distribution network architectures. Included is the Verimatrix MultiCAS/IP™ server that integrates operation of VCAS with high-performance stream multiplexer/scrambler equipment from Adtec, TANDBERG, Scientific Atlanta and others.

Innovative software-only support for diverse pay-TV clients -- STBs, DVRs, PCs and media centers to match consumer lifestyles and improve operators competitive positioning with an enhanced value network offering. Attendees will see the ViewRight™ PC Player, which is a highly-secure video player for home PCs with desktop access to the same range of broadcast and Video-on-Demand content that is available in the living room.

Unique layered security that combines encryption and forensic watermarking -- Verimatrix extends the pay-TV network security perimeter through VideoMark™, user-specific, forensic watermarking technology by enabling a pirated piece of content to be tracked back to its last legal recipient. VideoMark extends the protection provided by VCAS across the so-called "analog hole" and provides a more trusted secure distribution platform, far better suited to deter piracy than competing digital or analog techniques.

VCAS™ for DVB -- Verimatrix's software-based security approach for hybrid networks addresses the innovative combination of DVB broadcast over satellite, cable or terrestrial with premium IPTV on-demand services enabled by broadband. Hybrid architectures using VCAS for DVB enable operators to add services, improve content security and lower per client costs without disrupting the existing subscriber base. It also provides a natural migration path from piracy-prone smart card-based systems to a higher level of content security while also enhancing the added-value revenue potential.
