Lancope Protects Higher Education Networks As Part of the EDUCAUSE Identity Management Services Program
Posted on: Tuesday, 10 April 2007, 09:00 CDT
Lancope, Inc., the provider of the StealthWatch™ System, the most widely used Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced its participation in the EDUCAUSE Identity Management Services Program (IMSP). EDUCAUSE is a non-profit association that strives to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology.
As a member of EDUCAUSE IMSP, Lancope helps institutes of higher learning enhance network and security operations by offering preferred pricing for StealthWatch IDentity-1000, a component of the StealthWatch System, which provides detailed views of anomalies and network utilization for security analysts, network engineers and network planners. In addition to enterprise market leadership, Lancope is also the leading provider of NBA in the higher education market as validated by many premier academic institutions, including Dartmouth College, Stanford University School of Medicine, Northwestern University, and University of North Carolina, which have deployed StealthWatch to defeat zero-day worms, internal network misuse and other anomalies that compromise network integrity.
In response to the higher education community's desire to manage the costs of IT infrastructure and find new solutions, EDUCAUSE developed IMSP in 2005. Under the program, more than 1,800 member institutions can take advantage of discounted pricing and customized purchasing arrangements for participating vendors' security and cyber-infrastructure solutions.
EDUCAUSE Vice President Mark Luker underscored the significance of the IMSP service by saying, "Higher education faces a critical need for improved identity management as we move more of our core processes -- learning, research, and service -- to the Internet. EDUCAUSE is pleased to offer the IMSP program as a means of helping our institutional members address long-standing problems of identity, privacy, and cyber-security."
"With massive open networks, universities and research organizations face constant threats from external and internal sources," said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "These institutions need a cost-effective means to separate normal network traffic from malicious activity that indicates intentional misuse of critical host and network resources. As an EDUCAUSE member, we can help by making StealthWatch for behavior-based anomaly detection and network performance monitoring more accessible and affordable for higher education."
