MONTREAL (CP) - Family and friends are describing a Quebec man accused of killing a police officer as a loving father and husband at his bail hearing today.
Basil Parasiris has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a Laval, Que., police officer on March 2.
Among those called to testify at his bail hearing in Montreal was his 80-year-old father.
George Parasiris says he's ready to take responsibility for his son if he's granted bail.
Crown prosecutor Joelle St-Germain asked family members if they knew the 41-year-old was involved in drugs, and they all said they were not aware of any such involvement.
The judge ruled last week there is no publication ban on the contents of the bail hearing and he's expected to make his ruling later today.
