Yahoo Japan Sees April-June Net Profit of 14.75-16.65 M. Yen
Tokyo, April 24 (Jiji Press)–Yahoo Japan Corp. said Tuesday it forecasts a group net profit of 14,750-16,650 million yen and an operating profit of 28,150-30,050 million yen for the April-June quarter, almost flat from the previous quarter but year-on-year growth of up to 26 pct.
While an increase in new recruits will push up personnel costs, the Internet portal firm will not incur office relocation costs as in the previous quarter and log less depreciation, company officials said.
Yahoo Japan projects revenue of 55.6-58.2 billion yen for April- June, flat from the previous quarter and up 13-18 pct from a year before.
The company sees relatively small revenue growth in April-June, the officials said.
Yahoo Japan presented a slightly conservative sales estimate because its revenue share in the Yahoo! BB broadband Internet service will decrease based on a review of its contract with business partner Softbank BB Corp., President Masahiro Inoue said.
For the year to March 2007, Yahoo Japan reported a group net profit of 57,963 million yen, up 23.1 pct from the previous year, and an operating profit of 106,232 million yen, up 29.3 pct, on revenue of 212,552 million yen, up 22.4 pct.
All operations, including advertising, performed well after it stepped up efforts to attract new customers, the officials said. [EARNINGS]END
