Deputies Find Meth Lab in East San Jose Neighborhood
By Leslie Griffy, San Jose Mercury News, Calif.
Apr. 24–Santa Clara Sheriff’s deputies uncovered an East San Jose methamphetamine lab Monday during a probation search of a home, Sgt. Ed Wise said today.
After receiving reports that drugs were being sold from the Hobart Avenue home of a parolee, deputies working with the state’s multi-jurisdictional methamphetamine enforcement team searched the house around noon.
Inside, Wise said, investigators found methamphetamine in various stages of production — including liquid and drying solid forms. A hazardous materials team cordoned off a portion of the home.
Deputies arrested two people on suspicion they produced methamphetamines, Wise said. Their identities have not been released. Wise also said that a 2-year-old was taken to a children’s shelter as a result of the arrests. It is unclear if the child was in the home at the time of the search.
