INX Inc. (NASDAQ:INXI) announced today the completion of a network infrastructure and telecommunications project with Albuquerque Studios.
The film industry is becoming a top economic commodity in New Mexico as a result of the State's aggressive incentive package. The State of New Mexico Film office's website quotes Governor Bill Richardson as saying, "Our efforts to increase film and television production in New Mexico and make the state a major media center continue to pay off. Once again, our incentives, our qualified workforce, and the beauty and culture of New Mexico have beat out formidable competition... Major film and television projects aren't going to Canada or Europe, they're coming to New Mexico." Albuquerque Studios is one company that has to agree with the Governor, having made the commitment to build a $74 million, 54 acre facility for major film production that is finishing completion this month. Included in the new state of the art facility is a dynamic Cisco data and voice IP communications infrastructure that compliments the business model of Albuquerque Studios.
"INX did a great job of understanding our specific business needs and designed a solution that will compliment our business model," stated Nick Smerigan, Chief Operating Officer of Albuquerque Studios. "We needed an infrastructure that would be enterprise class, yet provide for the ability to change rapidly and easily to accommodate a new tenant or movie production."
INX implemented a Unified Communications solution that included at its core, Cisco Call Manager and Unity Messaging. The solution allows Albuquerque Studios to modify their configuration frequently without sacrificing features or functionality. The entire studio environment is "wired" for business and has wireless connectivity for voice and data in all of the soundstages. The network is mobile, secure, and capable of accommodating the largest of film production projects. INX will continue to partner with Albuquerque Studios to their support future needs and keep the communications technology aspects of the studios dynamic and up to date.
"This project was very rewarding in a number of ways," stated Michael French, Regional Vice President of INX. "We were able to fully leverage the latest in IP communications technology to help create a world-class film and television production studio in New Mexico. We are very pleased to have been able to participate in project that we believe is destined to change the Albuquerque and New Mexico economy over the coming years by making New Mexico a part of the next generation of business in the film industry."
Cisco has recognized the project as a success story and has produced a podcast featured on their web site, http://www.cisco.com/web/about/facts_info/podcast.html. In July, Jeff Nash, Executive Account Manager at INX, will accompany Nick Smerigan and Jeremy Hariton of Albuquerque Studios to Cisco's Annual Networkers Event in Anaheim California. The three will be featured as guest speakers, discussing the success story in more detail at the engineering conference. "I am excited to discuss the project with Nick and Jeremy. We have a great story to tell," said Nash.
