Wireless Telecom Group Announces First Sale of Market-Leading Product for China's Wireless 3G Markets

Posted on: Wednesday, 25 April 2007, 15:00 CDT

Willtek Communications, a wholly owned subsidiary of Wireless Telecom Group, Inc. (Amex: WTT), today announced receipt of the first order for their recently released mobile handset test capability for TD-SCDMA, the emerging Chinese 3G standard. The product will be used in support of early deployment and service roll-out of 3G capability currently underway in China.

As reported in an announcement in December 2006, Willtek's flagship 4400 mobile handset tester is the industry's first product able to perform call-mode testing on all of the 3G wireless standards within a single test instrument, including UMTS/WCDMA, CDMA2000/1xEVDO, and now TD-SCDMA, the standard developed in China and planned as part of their 3G deployment. The product also supports the global 2G standards.

Monty Johnson, CEO of Wireless Telecom Group, states, "We are pleased with this first order. In 2006, the Asian region was our fastest growing market, and is the headquarters of our largest customer in terms of revenue to our company. China is currently undergoing tremendous wireless expansion and will continue to be a strategic focus for us. Our solution leadership in TD-SCDMA, the upcoming 2008 Olympics, and the deployment of new 3G networks provides us excellent potential for growth."

Matthias Weber, Director of Product Marketing at Willtek Communications, adds, "We were selected because we are the only global supplier delivering TD-SCDMA call-mode capabilities and the only supplier in the industry delivering dual-mode capabilities for GSM and TD-SCDMA. This is expected to be the primary offering for these new 3G phones. With the outlook for further mobile handset growth, both in manufacturing applications and for local mobile users, we see opportunity for continued success."
