Westcon Group and Firetide Expand Agreement to Deliver Competitive Wireless Mesh Solutions for VARs in North America

Posted on: Wednesday, 25 April 2007, 15:00 CDT

Westcon Group, Inc., the world's leading specialty distributor in networking, security, mobility and convergence, and Firetide, a leading provider of mesh networks that enable concurrent video, voice, and data applications, announced that Firetide's products are now available to Westcon Group's North American reseller customers.

Firetide's products provide Westcon Group's network of resellers the ability to deliver highly secure wireless mesh solutions to enable high bandwidth support of demanding voice, video, mobility, and surveillance applications for outdoor, in-vehicle, and office deployments. This announcement follows the success Westcon Group has had with Firetide in Asia, through its Comstor Singapore subsidiary.

Anthony Daley, executive vice president, the Americas, Westcon Group, commented: "We are pleased to bring Firetide into our North American portfolio since this will give us a proven and highly secure mobility infrastructure on which customers can deploy IP devices such as cameras, bar code scanners, IP phones, RFID devices and many other applications. When combined with our other solutions, Firetide's products can be a powerful catalyst towards achieving converged mobility."

"As convergence technology becomes ubiquitous, it only makes sense to build out VoIP Wi-Fi networks," commented Bo Larsson, CEO of Firetide. "For resellers, opportunities abound in areas like hospitality, transportation, education, warehousing healthcare and government. Entire cities are benefiting from our ability to deliver high performance, reliable broadband connectivity."

Jorge Reyes, president and CEO of Stratus Technologies Group, Inc., a Miami, FL-based reseller and systems integrator, added: "Westcon's relationship with Firetide is good news for resellers--the opportunities in wireless mesh technology are only increasing as our customers now require more high-bandwidth, secure wireless solutions than ever before. The strength of Firetide's products, combined with the additional value Westcon Group brings with its solutions programs and logistics expertise, will help us capitalize on these opportunities."
