Telecommunications equipment maker Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:NWK), a global provider of multi-service network exchange solutions for enterprise and government customers, announced general availability of its VX1200 Unified Communications Gateway, which enables enterprises to seamlessly integrate Microsoft's "unified messaging" or "unified communications" solutions into their existing voice networks and PBX systems.
The VX1200 Unified Communications Gateway is purpose-built to provide enterprise-class integration, interoperability, and security with the scalability required for successful adoption of unified messaging with Microsoft Exchange 2007 and unified communications with the upcoming release of Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007.
"Microsoft's unified messaging and communications solutions can bring significant competitive advantages and cost savings to enterprises that integrate these solutions into their existing voice networks and business applications. NET is aligned with Microsoft's vision for unified communications and the VX1200 is specifically designed to bring these solutions into the enterprise seamlessly while handling the complexity and interoperability requirements of existing enterprise voice networks," said Talbot Harty, Vice President and General Manager of NET's Voice & Mobility Solutions Group. "With the VX1200, enterprises can dramatically reduce the costs of their voice network infrastructure and maintenance through consolidation of expensive voicemail, PBX, and IP-PBX systems. This consolidation is a major opportunity for enterprises that have been waiting for that compelling ROI for VoIP, unified messaging and unified communications solutions."
The advanced features of the VX1200 provide capabilities that go beyond the limitations of many other VoIP media gateways. The VX1200 is a fully integrated, expandable, single-box solution designed to handle the complexity and challenges that are common when introducing unified communications into today's enterprise voice networks. A broad set of optional software modules are available, providing advanced functions such as SIP trunking, integrated session border control, bandwidth optimization, hardware accelerated security, and remote survivability.
Several NET VX1200 customer trials are currently underway for Microsoft Exchange 2007 unified messaging and Microsoft OCS 2007 (beta) unified communications.
