Posted on: Monday, 30 April 2007, 12:00 CDT
NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. [NASDAQ: NETL] today announced that its processors have been selected for Terayon's next-generation Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) and Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) systems that are deployed in leading cable, satellite and IPTV operator networks worldwide. NetLogic Microsystems' processors are used to accelerate advanced Internet Protocol (IP) functions such as forwarding and access control list (ACL) implementation.
Terayon is a leading provider of award-winning payload-intelligent video systems that deliver unparalleled quality and reliability for networking, distributing and processing high-quality high definition (HD) and standard definition (SD) video services. The IPTV systems from Terayon feature localization on demand, which allows service providers to create regional video programming and insert localized advertisements in real time and delivered on a mass-scale over existing IP networks. Terayon's customers include Comcast Cable and Time Warner Cable.
NetLogic Microsystems' processors were selected because of the optimal performance they offer while minimizing power consumption and package footprint. NetLogic Microsystems' processors enable true wire-speed system performance for Internet protocol routing and forwarding, quality of service (QoS) and packet filtering, all of which are important to the deployment of high-quality video services over cable, satellite and telco networks worldwide.
"We're pleased to have been selected by Terayon to accelerate important functions in advanced IPTV and CMTS systems," said James McDermott, director of marketing at NetLogic Microsystems. "This is a testament that the advanced feature set and processing capabilities of our processors meet the demands of next-generation triple-play networks."
