Website Searches for Cash; May 24 General Election and They’re Off
By MIRROR REPORTER
TRAFFIC on an Irish election website has tripled since rumours broke on Saturday night that the Taoiseach was about to announce the polling date.
And the most popular search on the site concerned the EUR30,000 payment made to Bertie Ahern’s former partner Celia Larkin.
Spokesman for Irish-election.com Cian O’Fla-herty said: "We’ve got a lot of traffic since Monday with phrases such as ‘Bertie Ahern 30,000′, ‘Bertie Ahern payments’ and ‘Bertie money’.
The internet wizards behind the site hailed the boost as proof more people are going online for their information.
Mr O’Flaherty added: "This is the first Irish election where the internet is being fully utilised."
