TORONTO (CP) – Premier Dalton McGuinty says he doesn’t see how Facebook adds value to a workplace environment.

McGuinty was commenting a day after the province quietly banned government staff from accessing the popular website while at work. When workers tried to log on to their accounts Wednesday, they were greeted with “access denied” messages on their screens. He says it’s important for the government to review websites that are accessible through its computers from time to time.

McGuinty says Facebook is predominately a social networking site and has its value, but that it doesn’t add value to the workplace.

Facebook joins YouTube, gambling websites and hard-core sex sites as forbidden fruit in any provincial government office.
