Ahura Corporation, a manufacturer of optical subsystems is developing miniature subsystems based on patented 'Optical Engine' technology for security/safety, life sciences and industrial applications.
Ahura was founded in 2002 by a distinguished team with a strong track record in bringing advanced electro-optical systems to market. Led by Dr. Daryoosh Vakhshoori, Ahura founders were also some of the founders of CoreTek which was successfully acquired by Nortel for more than $1B.
"We are committed to become the leader in innovative ultra compact portable optical solutions. Our 'optical engine' approach is fundamentally different from other companies and enables miniature high performance optical systems across a number of industries" announced Dr. Daryoosh Vakhshoori, Founder and CEO, "Our mission is to develop effective products that improve the quality of people's lives around the world. We will continue to push the technological envelop on product performance while moving quickly to transition our designs into production for customers in government and industry."
Ahura has raised more than $15M from top tier venture capital firms including ARCH Venture Partners of Chicago, Il, Castile Ventures of Waltham, MA and ComVentures of Palo Alto, CA. The start-up occupies a 30,000 square foot development and manufacturing facility in Wilmington, MA which includes an advanced opto-electronic design center, semiconductor fabrication and growth, thin-film optical coating, precision packaging, reliability testing, system design and manufacturing. Ahura's broad technical team, coupled with the vertically integrated facility enables rapid response to changing customer needs.
Ahura's 'optical engine' technology is made possible by patented breakthroughs in high performance semiconductor lasers, broad band sources, novel spectroscopic techniques, amplifiers, thin-film optical filters, MEM based sensors, extremely dense precision optical packaging, and novel system level solutions. These tiny 'optical engines' enable miniaturization, facilitating taking instruments into the field and building instruments into production lines.
Ahura Corporation has commercialized a portfolio of laser and subsystem products. These products are in mass production, being sold to leading players in the security and safety, and the life sciences market. With a multi-million dollar backlog, Ahura has established itself as the preeminent 'one stop' optical solution provider.
