ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Performance Technologies , a leading developer of integrated platforms, components and software solutions for the communications, military and commercial markets, today announced AirSurprise Technologies Ltd. is using the company's solutions in an SS7 system developed for China Unicom International, the world's third largest mobile telecommunication operator.
China Unicom is a world-class telecommunication operator, with more than 90 million subscribers to its GSM and CDMA cellular business. The company's Signaling Collection and Analysis System has been operating since October 2003, acting as a key interface to the company's international call service. AirSurprise Technologies is using Performance Technologies' CPC388 Telecom Adapter and NexusWare(TM) Linux-based Development and Operating Software Environment to help power this system.
"Performance Technologies' I/O communications products and software are field-proven solutions that offer the high availability that international call service demands," said Wang Song, GM of AirSurprise Technologies. "Combined with our embedded probe software, we were able to provide China Unicom with a leading-edge solution that the company can trust to be operational at all times."
Performance Technologies' CPC388 Telecom Adapter serves as a high density, highly advanced connectivity subsystem within CompactPCI(R) or PICMG(R) 2.16-based applications. It is ideally suited for applications such as SS7 network elements, wireless infrastructure equipment, media and signaling gateways, and telecom switching and routing equipment. When used with the company's Advanced Managed Platform products, the CPC388 provides an octal T1/E1/J1 interface that can operate as a fully programmable communications subsystem.
The company's NexusWare Development and Operating Software Environment works in conjunction with the CPC388 and other packet-based products to help system engineers build next-generation wireless and IP telephony systems.
"Working with AirSurprise Technologies, we were able to deliver an SS7 system that exceeded the expectations of China Unicom in terms of reliability," said Martin McFadden, vice president of Asian sales for Performance Technologies. "We look forward to partnering with AirSurprise Technologies again to continue to deliver top quality systems to customers around the globe."
