Telco Systems Announces Partnership With JAS Corporation to Provide DS1, DS3, Ethernet Service Delivery Platforms to Carriers Serving Puerto Rico & Caribbean

Telco Systems today at the USTA Telecom '04 show (Booth 632) here announced a partnership with JAS Corporation to provide Telco Systems' Ethernet-over-SONET solution, DS1, DS3 and OC-3 service delivery platforms to carriers serving Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.

Hector Garcia, General Manager for JAS Corporation, said: "There is a tremendous demand for Telco Systems' EdgeLink OTM1000 for its delivery of Ethernet-Over-SONET and DS1 and DS3 service because it is small enough to fit in outdoor cabinets, does not require an air conditioned environment like competing products, is relatively low cost, and is compatible with telecom network equipment already deployed."

Mr. Garcia said that carriers in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean are using Telco Systems' EdgeLink OTM1000; the EdgeLink Hub, an advanced MX13 multi-service distribution hub; and EdgeLink200 Integrated Access Device (IAD) to provide high-speed Internet service to business', deliver DS1, DS3 and OC-3 service as well as to backhaul traffic from cell towers to a fiber ring backbone network.

"The EdgeLink OTM1000 is extremely popular with carriers here because it can mix Ethernet traffic, DS3 and DS1 service over a single OC-3 fiber pipe," Mr. Garcia said. He added that the interest in the EdgeLink OTM1000 is also driving demand for the EdgeLink Hub and EdgeLink200 IAD as a cost-effective and reliable service delivery solution. Mr. Garcia said that Telco Systems' products are currently being deployed by carriers as a result of the new partnership agreement.
