Internet content management software publisher, Solid Oak Software's newest product, SnoopStick gives working parents new tools for remotely monitoring their kid's online activities.
Solid Oak Software also publishes the popular Internet filtering product, CYBERsitter. CYBERsitter has been available for over 12 years and the publisher has seen a definite trend in the type of parental controls parents feel they need. Five or ten years ago parents' biggest concerns were the availability of pornography on the Internet. Today, many parents have become desensitized to the availability of adult-oriented material, especially when their children reach teenage years. This has led many parents to forgo the installation of filtering products to protect their kids because they do not perceive the problem to be as prevalent as it was a few years ago.
A great deal of attention lately has been given to the topic of online predators. Recent television segments on Dateline and America's Most Wanted have shown how many predators are actually out there and how eager they are to make contact with teenaged children. For many parents with children in this age group, monitoring the computer while they are online can be difficult if not impossible. Many kids now have laptops that they take to school with them. They have access to the Internet while at school and at various hotspots throughout their local area. Conventional filtering products do not provide the level of sophistication that is required to provide adequate supervision of kids using the latest technology.
SnoopStick addresses these issues by allowing parents full access just as if they were looking over their children's shoulder, regardless of where the two computers may be located.
SnoopStick is a fully self-contained USB memory stick-type device. Parents insert the SnoopStick into their kids computer and run the sixty-second setup program to install the secret monitoring software on the computer. They can then take the SnoopStick device with them to work, or anywhere they go, and check on their kids activity from any other computer with Internet access, anywhere in the world.
SnoopStick is completely unique in that the entire system goes were the parent goes. Parents can log in any time and view recent activity and watch activity as it happens in real time. SnoopStick allows them to view instant message conversations, e-mail activity, websites visited, programs run, and even restrict access to programs, websites, or the Internet as they feel necessary.
SnoopStick is available for $59.95 and can monitor up to three computers with the standard license. Additional computers can be added any time. SnoopStick also updates itself automatically in the background so it can keep up with the latest changes in the Internet and popular Internet products. It is available online at http://www.snoopstick.com.
